Meet Dr. Shawn Lehman-Grimes
Education and Expertise
“Dr. Shawn,” as his patients affectionately call him, is no stranger to Tennessee. After graduating from Montgomery Bell Academy, he earned his degree from Emory University and went on to complete his dental training at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He returned to Middle Tennessee in 2005 after finishing his orthodontic residency, bringing with him a strong commitment to his patients and his profession.
Dr. Shawn has served in leadership roles across multiple dental and orthodontic organizations. His resume includes positions like Past President of the 8th District Dental Society, Past President of the Tennessee Association of Orthodontists, and Current Director of the American Association of Orthodontists Insurance Company (AAOIC). He brings a collaborative, forward-thinking approach to his work and stays deeply involved in continuing education.
Care Philosophy and Community Involvement
Dr. Shawn is passionate about creating personalized, effective orthodontic experiences for every patient. He believes treatment should be comfortable, efficient, and fun—and that strong communication and trust are key to great outcomes.
Outside of the office, you’ll find him cheering for the Nashville Predators or hanging out with his family at gymnastics and tennis events. He’s also an active supporter of youth sports leagues, school events, and local fundraising efforts, and he’s committed to helping the community grow—one smile at a time.
Meet Dr. Candice Coleman
Academic Achievements and Clinical Experience
Originally from Seattle, Dr. Candice made her way to Middle Tennessee by way of Oregon, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Linfield College—all while playing volleyball and lacrosse. She then completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class.
Her passion for leadership led her to serve as class president, and she represented her school nationally as part of the American Student Dental Association. Dr. Candice furthered her training with a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Dental Science, solidifying her commitment to the specialty.
She’s also been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Jack E. Wells Outstanding Young Dentist Award and the Dr. Norris Howell Award for Leadership and Service, all reflecting her tireless dedication to the field.
Commitment to Patients and Community
Dr. Candice takes pride in making every patient feel heard, valued, and confident in their care. She’s known for her compassionate approach, clear communication, and ability to make even the most anxious patients feel at ease.
Outside of the office, she’s deeply involved in the community through groups like the Clarksville Sunrise Rotary, Clarksville Triathlon Club, and the Customs House Museum Guild. She’s also a proud mom of six and married to Dr. Burton Coleman, an endodontist in the area. When she’s not in the clinic, she’s usually spending time with her large, busy family.
